This exquisite Edwardian-era evening bag (circa 1910s) showcases the intricate craftsmanship of early 20th-century beadwork.
Design: The bag features a vibrant floral spray of roses and wildflowers in shades of pink, red, blue, and yellow. The lower half is decorated with ornate, scalloped geometric borders in light blue and grey micro-beads.
Frame & Hardware: The bag is finished with an antique brass or steel frame featuring an ornate arched top and a classic kissing-lock closure. It includes a delicate, matching chain handle for carrying.
Known for their "shimmering" quality, these bags were highly popular formal accessories during the Edwardian period and were often used for weddings or the theater. Similar examples from the era are highly collectible and often include internal silk or cotton linings. This one has a cotton lining.
